My first bit of river fishing – by Ryan
My first ever river fishing was on the river medway I went down there for some practise for the match there the next day. When we got there I had a look at the swims and I picked peg 17. To the right there were a few lily pads so I thought i’ll set up on the pole just out of them. I set up with four sections on, as bait I thought i’ll use maggots.then i put it out then as soon as i put it in i had a bite as i was bringing it in a pike jumped to try and eat the roach but it missed and i got it in.Then i put it in again and another fish this one was a little dace then my dad set up on the feeder under some tree’s after about 5 minutes he had he’s first bite and he got it in it was a bream about 1lb an a half ten in the next hour i had anther 20 small roach and dace then i had a sandwich and dad had a go on the pole then my dad got a dicent perch on then suddenly the alastic started to come out and it was obvious the pike had taken it. The pike was about 9lb then suddenly it came of but he got the perch then i had ago in the next hour i had a dozen small fish then it started to rain and we packed up it had been a good day 🙂
