Great Danes
Popped along to the Danes for a few hours today, as off to Aldington tomorrow for Ryan’s last match of the season. The daffodils are stating to come out, and the willows are starting to look a lot greener.
A bit drizzly and overcast as we got there, but no real wind to speak of. Set Ryan up on the feeder, tight on to the island with an 8mm hard pellet. I started setting up the pole on top 6, with a .1g KC Karpa, to a 20 red maggot hook.
Ryan is in to his first fish after 10 mins, and a nice dark 2 1/2lb common. Just as he catches another, I ship out some micro’s and red maggot to feed. I start catching straight away with a few small roach, and nice sized gudgeon. Another common for Ryan, as the wind picks up a bit, and the drizzle gets a little heavier.
We swap over, and Ryan carry’s on pick out the roach and gudgeon on the top 4, while on the feeder it has all gone quiet. Can see why he wanted to swap. After about 30 mins, and Ryan still pulling in the silvers, the tip quivers slightly, and then drops right back. I hit in and a net a common. Another pull on the tip, and I land a mirror this time.
Time to swap over again, and after another carp on the feeder, Ryan says he is getting cold and wants to go. So I star packing away the gear while he has a few last roach/gudgeon on the pole. All ready to pack away the pole, the sun starts to break through a bit, and he wants to fish on a bit more. No problem, and have another cup of coffee while watching him pull out more roach.
Ready to go now, and has been a good morning for the 4hr session.
