Aldington – Easter Sunday
Wake up to a really drizzly morning, it’s 5c and we head off to the last match of the season ( Ryan’s 4th ). Arrive at 8:15, and at the draw, Ryan picks peg 15, right at the far end again.
Set up the waggler and pole to 7m, as Ryan huddles under the brolly to keep out of the wind and rain.
All In 10:00
By now we are drenched, and the wind has picked up a bit. Ryan casts out the waggler, but struggles to get any distance against the wind, and so drops on to the pole. I help by balling in a couple of Chocolate fish balls ( well it is Easter Sunday), and a bite straight away. A small roach, and help Ryan unhook it as he has his gloves on because his hands are so cold.
Out again, and the roach are feeding straight away, as he pulls in another 5 in the next 20 mins. By now, Ryan’s feet are soaked and he has trouble holding the pole. It is no fun for him, so we pack up, and head back home in the warm. Time to enjoy an egg or 2.
But of a shame it was so miserable down there, as it had cleared up and was dry back at home. Also have a feeling that it could have been a good day for the bream, and we had aimed for his best weight.
Will post the results later, when we hear anything.

The final match of the 2011/2012 season took place at a wet and breezy Aldington with a dozen brave souls escaping Easter Egg hunt duties to fish. No carp or pleasure anglers were on the lake all day.
Lou needed to beat me to retain his title following my blank last week which left me with just a one point advantage. He duly obliged, beating all comers with a bag of Bream from the favoured peg on the left of the front part of the lake.
Well done Lou, a worthy winner and I suspect I won’t come as close to winning the title for some years but I gave him a good run for his money.
Ken Burdekin finished second with 7lb 9oz of roach from the point on the left of the bottom part of the lake. This also won him the Winter Trophy following his win down at Barming in March.
Third, with a late flourish on the podium, was Bob Turner from the point on the left of the front lake.
